The task of art is enormous.
Art should cause violence to be set aside.
And it is only art that can acomplish this.
-Leo N. Tolstoy

By blending peace building concepts with photography and video based projects Balkan youth will have the opportunity to learn new skills while they explore concepts of identity, environmental stewardship, culture, and communication. The initial pilot workshops will take place in March 2009 at the Balkans Peace Park in Northern Albania in collaboration with the Voices from Thethi Project, and in Sanski Most, Bosnia, with the Center for Peacebuilding. The Balkans Peace Photo Project is derived of international team members Tibora Bea Girczyc-Blum, Artist and Educator and Master’s candidates Drustva Delgadillo, Ajla Delkic , and Terra Tolley from the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (ICAR) at George Mason University, as well as film maker Jason Eason of Current TV.

The Balkans Peace Photo Project is working in collaboration with Outside the Lens, The Balkans Peace Park Project, George Mason University and the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, the Center for Peace Building International, The Institute for Photographic Empowerment, Mutiny Arts, and beyond.
